Rushford Lake Dam Day Returns Aug. 8 to Support Historic Dam

Rushford Lake Dam Day, an annual fundraiser to help maintain the nearly century-old Rushford Lake Dam, returns Saturday, Aug. 8, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. The daylong event features live DJ music, a chicken barbecue from Krolick's BBQ, guided behind-the-scenes tours of the dam, and a boat raffle sponsored by Seager Marina. Organizers also plan basket and meat raffles, a 50/50 drawing, local vendors, and Rushford Lake apparel and souvenirs for sale. The event has become a summer tradition for the lake community, with proceeds going toward preserving the dam's infrastructure.

Volunteers Turn Out for Rushford's First Burying Ground Work Day

The First Burying Ground Committee organized a community work day on May 16 at the historic cemetery on Brooks Avenue in Rushford, ahead of Memorial Day. Volunteers were asked to bring shovels, wheelbarrows, and chainsaws to help fill in ruts and holes and tidy up the grounds, with a rain date set for the following Saturday. The four-hour event ran from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and organizers asked participants to bring their own lunch and drinks. Committee member Sue coordinated the effort, part of ongoing volunteer upkeep of the historic burial ground.
