The Hairdressers of Wellsville, a salon operated by Laura Pielow and Linda Derrick, is closing after 46 years in business. The owners took the occasion to thank the customers and community who supported the shop over the decades. The closing marks the end of a long-running local business.

The Town of Scio will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, Oct. 27 on Introductory Local Law Number 1 of 2026. If adopted, the law would allow the town to exceed the state's 2% property tax levy cap when it sets its 2027 budget.
