Allegany/Schools
Middle-High School Principal Joseph Steger presented results of a student survey to the Allegany-Limestone Board of Education on Oct. 6. Students in the district reported lower rates of smoking, drinking and drug use than the Cattaraugus County average. CASA-Trinity ran the anonymous survey for six regional districts, and Steger said it gives the school information about programming and helps guide what prevention education is brought into schools. He also noted that students' perception of parental disapproval of drug use is high, at about 85% in most grades for most substances, with marijuana in grades 11 and 12 as the exception.
